The Mesozoic–Palaeogene hyperthermal events: lessons for understanding Anthropogene global warming

Aims

The first research goal for this IGCP proposal is to engage researchers in developing stable carbon isotope records on astronomically tuned age models for the proposed events.

The second research goal is to constrain the magnitude and rate of eustatic sea-level change during hyperthermal events.

Lastly, the proposed IGCP will study how biologic and ecologic systems and ocean geochemistry change across these major hyperthermals.
