Introduction
Xiumian Hu’s research interests encompass a wide variety of problems related to sedimentary basins, paleoclimatology, artificial intelligence meets sand/sandstone, and Deep-time Digital Earth. Xiumian Hu, his students and colleagues are currently engaged in research project oriented toward resolving timing and evolution of the Tethys ocean closure and continental collision. These projects involve the application of stratigraphic, sedimentological, provenance data to constrain the continental collision. They are also investigating the environmental and sedimentary response to short-lived climatic extremes such as TOAE, PETM.
