The 2023 Tianfu Carbon Neutrality Forum was held in Chengdu on 24th, 2023, with the theme “Parallel Advancements in Technology and Industrialization, Empowering High-Quality Development of Green Industries”.
Associate Professor Pan Xiaohua from our center has been invited to attend and deliver a presentation titled Application and Carbon Sequestration Contribution of Carbon-Negative Microbial Cement in the Field of Geological Disaster Prevention at the Carbon Sink and Geological Carbon Sequestration Technology Sub-forum.

In the speech, Associate Professor Pan proposed the concept of carbon-negative microbial cement, and provided a detailed introduction to the definition, carbon-negative mechanism, aggregate solidification properties, and application prospects of carbon-negative microbial cement.
Associate Professor Pan pointed out that carbon-negative microbial cement is a type of gel material based on microbially/enzyme induced Mg2+/Ca2+ carbonation technology, possessing early strength and carbon sequestration characteristics. It is mainly composed of ureolytic bacteria/enzymes, urea, and magnesium/calcium sources, and can be applied in special areas such as stone artifactsrestoration.
