Good news! Our center’s young teacher won the Special prize in the 4th National University Young Teachers Geology Course Teaching Competition.

The 4th National University Young Teachers Geology Course Teaching Competition was held at Changjiang University (Wuhan Campus) on October 21-22, 2023. Our center’s Associate Professor, Cheng Qing, participated in the competition and won the Special prize.

Professor Cheng Qing’s competition entry was the course “Ground Treatment and Foundation Design”, which is a highly practical and applied course closely related to national construction. It is also a designated elective course for the Geological Engineering major at Nanjing University. The course focuses on the practical application of basic soil mechanics knowledge and provides a theoretical foundation to serve economic development. During the competition, Professor Cheng demonstrated a high level of professionalism through well-designed presentation slides, a poised teaching style, integration of ideological and political education in the course, incorporation of engineering case studies, and clear and accessible explanations. Hers performance exemplified the fine qualities of our center’s young teachers.

The National University Young Teachers Geology Course Teaching Competition is an educational skills competition organized by the Geological Society of China and the Geological Education Research Branch of the Geological Society of China. It is aimed at young teachers in the field of geosciences nationwide. This event is one of the competitions included in the “National Ranking of Higher Education Teaching Competitions” and is the highest-level and largest-scale teaching competition in the field of geological disciplines in China. Its purpose is to cultivate a sense of dedication and rigorous scholarship among young teachers, foster a professional teaching workforce characterized by high ethical standards and exceptional expertise, and promote the scientific development of higher education in geology in our country.
