At 13:30 p.m. on May 22, 2024, the doctoral and master's degree thesis defense meeting of the research group was held as scheduled in Room A205, Zhu Gongshan Building, Xianlin Campus, Nanjing University. The Chairman of the doctoral thesis Defense Committee is Professor Liu Jin, and the members of the defense committee are Professors Deng Yongfeng, Wang Baojun, Zhang Dan and Liu Chun. The chairman of the master thesis defense committee is Professor Wang Baojun, and the members of the defense committee are Professors Deng Yongfeng and Liu Chun. The defense meeting secretary is Associate Professor Cheng Qing.
At the defense meeting, five students, Xu Jinjian, Liu Weijie, Zhang Shuxing, Gu Yingdong and Zhang Yicheng, respectively, presented "Study on Soil Desiccation Cracking Using Artificial Intelligence and Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing", "Research on the initiation and propagation mechanism of soil desiccation cracking based on discrete element method ", "Coupled effects of relative humidity and temperature on desiccation cracking in a compacted clayey soil: experimental test and mechanistic study ", "Study on the propagation and evolution mechanism of desiccation cracking behaviour in vegetated soil ", "Study on high bridging rate healing method and microscopic controlling mechanism of non-penetrating steep rock fracture based on MICP ", and made a brief statement from the aspects of the significance of the topic selection, paper framework, research ideas, main content and innovation, and members of the defense committee made comments and questions. Some guiding opinions and suggestions are put forward to further improve the thesis.
After the review and secret ballot of the defense committee, it is considered that the thesis topics of the five students meet the requirements of the dissertation, the writing is standardized, the content is detailed, and the questions raised by the experts can be accurately answered during the defense process. It is unanimously agreed to pass the doctoral and master's dissertation defense, and it is recommended that the doctoral and master's degrees be awarded.
