Dr. Zhang is a Professor of Mineralogy at Nanjing University. He obtained his bachelor and doctoral degrees in 2001 and 2005, respectively at Nanjing University. After graduation, he became an associate research Professor at Purple Mountain Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Zhang returned to Nanjing University with a full professorship in 2010.
