Prof. Bin Shi is a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor of Nanjing University, Dean of Suzhou High-tech Research Institute of Nanjing University, concurrently serves as President of International Society of Environmental Geotechnical Engineering (ISEG), Chairman of Geological and Geotechnical Engineering Intelligent Monitoring Branch of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering, Deputy Director of Engineering Geology Specialty Committee of China Geological Society, and Deputy Chief Editor and Editorial Board Member of several professional magazines at home and abroad. Prof. Shi has been engaged in long-term research on rock and soil disasters and have made systematic and creative contributions in the theory, technology, and application of distributed optical fiber sensing in rock and soil.
