Personal Profile

Kai Gu, PhD, Professor, has been engaged in research of environmental engineering geology. He was selected into the National High-level Young Talent Program and Jiangsu Province's 333 High-level Talent. He presided over 16 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China's general projects, youth projects, and sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program; published more than 90 papers in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Water Resources Research, Engineering Geology, Geoderma, Chinese Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, Geotechnical Mechanics, and Journal of Engineering Geology; authorized 17 invention patents, 2 utility model patents, and 3 software copyrights; applied for 1 PCT.

He has won the First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018 (R12), the Silver Medal of the 48th Geneva International Invention Exhibition in 2023 (R1), the Gu Dezheng Youth Science and Technology Award of the Geological Engineering Professional Committee in 2018, the Outstanding Young Scientist Award of the International Association for Geohazards and Disaster Reduction (ICGdR) in 2020, the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress of Higher Education Institutions in Jiangsu Province in 2023 (R7), the Silver Medal of the First Jiangsu Patent Award in 2023 (R6), the Nanjing Excellent Invention Patent Award in 2022 (R6), the First Hsai Yang FANG Best Paper Award of the International Society for Environmental Geotechnical Engineering in 2022, the 2020 Outstanding Paper of the Journal of Engineering Geology, the Second Prize of the National University Young Teachers Geology Course Teaching Competition in 2019, the Charming Mentor Award of Nanjing University in 2019, and the Education Integration Award of Nanjing University in 2022.
