The idea to launch ACROFI was proposed by Prof. Alexander S. Borisenko, deputy director of the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences during his meeting with Prof. Zhaolin Li of the Zhongshan University, China who was visiting Novosibirsk. Prof. Li, at that time Chairman of the Working group on Inclusions in Minerals of IMA (WGIM), discussed this issue with his colleagues at WGIM and the Chinese Association of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry (CAMPG) and received positive responses. The IMA leaders Prof. Ian Parson and Dr. Maryse Ohnenstetter also supported the idea. During the WGIM meeting in August 2004 in Florence, Italy, Prof. ZhaolinLi, Chairman, Prof. Mamoru Enjoji, Vice Chairman and Dr. Sergey Smirnov, Secretary reached the agreement on convening the first ACROFI in China in 2006.Prof. Pei Ni took a lead in organizing the first ACROFI meeting (ACROFI I) which was held at the Nanjing University, China on 26-28 May 2006.
